Caption: CN 524 is backing up to its train at Aldershot with CN 5739, GECX 2038, GECX 2034, GECX 2036, GECX 2035. CN now has 8 of the GECX ET44AC demonstrators in their possession, with another 4 supposedly on the way.
If cn owned them why did it take them 2 years to paint or mark any of them?
I still think the claim of ownership was wrong in 2017. ‘Lease with an option to own’ sounds more like it. There had to be to allow them to roam without cn reporting marks for so long.
And the sun even cooperated!
Leasors?
PS..did you have a permit to be in my area?
Apparently leasors for now. We’ll see what happens.
I had a travel visa
Any idea on when the others are coming through?
Wow! Sweet catch!
No idea Docta, these were a total surprise. There were 4 on 422 on Monday also.
Lease.. own.. the rumour mill needs to make up their mind – or just leave it be, let the professionals figure it out first.
Nice catch Joe. Docta subscribe to the Yahoo FPON group you might get a heads up there.
The 12 GECX ET44ACs and 25 CREX ES44ACs are leased, not owned. As per a bulletin at work.
The same bulletin stated that more leased units, SD75s and Dash-8′s are coming too, but it did not give numbers.
The SD75s have started to show up since then, they are ex-BNSF units now owned by Progress Rail, and are numbered in the PRLX 200 series.
I have not seen any of the latest batch of Dash-8′s yet, but have heard they are ex-CSX units now owned by GE (GECX).
Sweet catch Joe. Is that the Kind Road overpass in foreground??
Thanks Todd, it is indeed the King Road underpass, once a grade crossing, now an underpass!
Also a side note. I have confirmation from many sources now that the GECX units have been purchased by CN.
422 on Dec 27th has more of these…due into Aldershot by 1130 am…problems with power – might be these units per radio transmissions
