Trillium Rwy was still known as the Port Colborne Harbour Railway when this image was shot. PCHR 6101, a C425, is seen servicing the Goderich Elevator down at the Lake Erie shores on a beautiful July morning. This is the first month of the railroad's operation. The 6101 has had a long history, from being built 1965 it was shop switcher at Morrison-Knudsen in Hornell, NY until the late 1980s; went to New York & Lake Erie for a spell, then restencilled PCHR for the startup of the PCHR July 1997; toiled until 2001 when it went back to the NYLE and then shipped off to the Delaware-Lackawanna in Scranton, PA. The unit is shown in NYLE colours.

  1. Ahh yes, the “Caledonia and Hamilton Southern Railway” era of Trillium where NY&LE influence was strong.

  2. You missed PRR, PC and CR before going to Morrison-Knudsen.

  3. Yeah, thanks, Smith. I knew I missed something but wasn’t sure. There had to be something in that gap between 1965 and its stint at MK.

  4. The NYLE is also home to former Trillium unit 308 now, too. Still in Erie Lackawana paint, too.
