Nice classic shot Doug. Not many freight rail pictures from Barrie on here.
Amazing shot! Now it has got me thinking – where/what industry would that lone tank car have come from?
Love the classic cars too!
There’s so much here. It take me back to Mac Yard in 1982 when 542 (Bala Sub), 545 (Uxbridge Sub), KO10 (Leaside), KO11, Newmarket Sub) KO27 (Don and Mimico)all leaving Mac Yard around 8am with small trains(OK, KO27 was huge at times). CN was covered with little locals out of the Don, Mimico, Oakville, and Malport, often with trains that looked like this. The frustrations of the midnight South Control Yard Master running around trying to find vans as East and West control did their bet to steal the few available. Railroading was about more than the core lines. It had a personality. I miss those days.
The tank car might be from the chemical plant in Longford Mills.
The yellow car just at the edge of the picture is Doug’s car
