Caption: Collingwood has had a long and steep history with the railroads, ever since shipping of timber and grain from harbour ships southward kept the lines busy back in the 1800s. This CN station replaced several others, being built in 1932 and when passenger and finally freight traffic dried up by 1970-ish; the city purchased this beautiful old station from the railroad and eventually created a museum here. Not long after this photo, an addition was put on the far (south) end, and eventually the whole place was rebuilt to resemble one of the majestic stations of old. It is now a museum well worth visiting.
