Caption: Like many of the smaller communities along the Canadian Nationals Strathroy Subdivision, Watford has not changed much through the years. Having boasted one of the larger stations at one time, it was demolished as the railway did not wish to continue the maintenance of the building. With all passenger traffic being swirched over to VIA Rail, they started to build smaller, less attractive 'stations' along their corridors. Here, we see the Chicago to Toronto container train passing the current CN maintenance office. Of note, is the light standard just to the left of the signals. That remains from one of those small VIA shelter that existed until the early to mid 2000's before it too was demolished, probably due to low ridership. A similar structure still exists to the west in Wyoming.
