This is not your ordinary intersection. Motorists have to take extra caution here as this intersection has a main train line right through the middle of it. From my understanding, there are not many of these scenarios - especially with trains at track speed. This is the town of Baden, between Kitchener and New Hamburg. Pictured today is GEXR 431, with ex-WC QGRY 6908, GEXR 3054 and GEXR 3394, storming the intersection of Foundry St/Livingstone Blvd and Snyders Rd.

  1. Stop lights for grade crossing protection?

  2. Great shot! I have always wanted to photograph from this location.

Brad – if I am right, I believe this is THE main intersection in downtown Baden. The intersection is also protected by crossing barriers…but there are 2 or 3 streets that intersect here. The barriers have been upgraded through the years, I believe they include gates now. First time I was in Baden 20 years ago, it was just signals (no gates). Of course, Baden has become a bedroom community to the K-W Cambridge area.

  3. Todd: thank you. Ya it’s definitely interesting for a shot.

  4. A really cool angle Kevin and a very nice shot! Hope I can some day get a shot just like this on the intersection crossing on the Huron Park Spur.
