Here's a view of the old CN diesel shop facility in Fort Erie back when it was an important part of railroading in Niagara. A trio of rare visitors, D&H 7415, 7616 and 7315, give the scene some pizzazz. The first unit in Reading colours, the middle one classic D&H, and tucked in behind a unit in Lehigh Valley paint !! Of lesser interest to this photographer are a smattering of local CN units. This scene today would consist of mostly weeds, unless the Niagara Rwy museum guys, who have taken over the once abandoned shop building after CN left, have been ambitious with their landscaping.

  1. Would have been a completely boring photo if N&W had accepted the terms of a lease with CN for a rotating group of GP38-2′s ( then numbered in the low 5500′s). Fortunately for you it was a more colourful scene than that !

  2. I worked there in 1971,we had old NW F3s all beat up.
