Caption: And a view ever changing in Kitchener-Waterloo - GEXR 582, on the first day of the change of card is seen waiting at South Junction for LRT Construction foremen to allow the train to proceed into the CP/GEXR (CN) Interchange yard. In the background, fresh wires were recently strung on the double main track ION LRT line which should start testing in the next couple of months. If one was ever to shoot a freight and LRT in the same place, this would be the place to go, that is, provided you can find the once a day freight move to the Interchange - sometimes it's at night.
Change of card you say? Well, put it this way, on GEXR symbols move with the crew, and don't necessarily mean origin or destination of train. 582 is now Continental along with 432/1, ordered 7 days a week, but Monday-Friday ordered out of Galt, and Saturday/Sunday out of Kitchener using whatever power is found at each terminal.

Nice shot. What time do they usually start in Kitchener?
Usually about 0800, 580 uses the Kitchener power set Mon-Fri and Sat-Sun is 582. On weekends 582 generally works the Kitchener area then runs to Stratford and back, but anything is possible (ie: Guelph, etc)
Great shot…really shows the progress with the upgrade of trackage for the LRT. Is this near Courtland Ave. area?
