Two geeps and a jenny...........the head end almost equals the consist itself in this pre-VIA passenger image taken off the hillside at Bayview Jct. CN GP9s 4102 and 4105 along with steam jenny (number unknown)have but four cars in tow in this mid-morning westbound. I had talked a buddy as well as my old Sidekick into spending a couple of hours watching what was happening as the train-watching bug had really bitten me hard in those years. Note the trees are just beginning to sprout on the hillside, and the 'Railfans Walkbridge' in the background is but one year old.

  1. That’s cool!

  2. Great capture Arnold! Time was certainly running out for a complete consist in that scheme. Reminds me of a mainland version of Newfoundland’s beloved ‘Caribou’ which had been cancelled some seven years before your photo. – Ken

  3. Ken…….my late father rode the `Newfie Bullet`many times and just loved to tell stories about it. No doubt it will never be forgotten.

  4. Arnold, you will be pleased to know then a third of the images in my upcoming book are of the ‘Bullet’! – Ken

  5. I will be even more pleased if the book can be ordered direct. I’m wondering when we are going to be allowed to go to hobby shops again in this part of the world. Lockdown and cases climbing again…………….
