VIA 6404 in the short-lived Kool Aid wrap has just arrived at Oakville with a string of four LRC cars from Ottawa and Toronto. After offloading its passengers, this train deadheaded in reverse to the TMC. I can't remember the exact train number, but for a short time, VIA extended this train from Ottawa along with express train #67 from Montreal "The Metropolis" (which still used LRC locomotives at the time) form Toronto Union to Oakville.

  1. The Kool-Aid Man didn’t burst out of the wall and say “Oh Yeah!” did he? Lol.

Have to quit watching Robot Chicken. lol.

    Nice shot though.

  2. Nice shot of the Kool Aid. From my Y2K edition of the Trackside Guide VIA 67 left Montreal at 17:00, stopped at Dorval then ran express to Toronto Union arriving at 21:05. It then continued to Oakville for an arrival of 21:36. Train 47 left Ottawa at 16:45, making stops at Brockville and Kingston before running express to Toronto Union at 20:40 and then on to Oakville for 21:11 arrival. I don’t know how long VIA ran those trains on to Oakville.

  3. Thanks for the info Cdntrainphotog- that sounds right to me. In subsequent years those two trains were also extended to Aldershot. The first morning J trains bound for Montreal and Ottawa also began in Aldershot.
