Caption: Following up on Mr. Odette's most interesting 'over the fence' view at the now suddenly defunct Resolute Forest Products plant in South Thorold, I feel it is an opportune time to submit a view of the current switcher that was active there. Here it is at Iroquois Falls, as Abitibi 1305, back in 1998. Alongside at the Victoria Rd crossing is ONR 1734 and 1736, which is handling in/out traffic in town. This train left Englehart in the morning, made a sidetrip to "The Falls" and then headed back out to the main and up to Cochrane. With the giant pulp & paper mill shut down in Iroquois Falls for the past few years, I get to wondering if anything polishes the rails on the subdivision any more.

A couple of years ago I had the “pleasure” of riding the bus from Cochrane to North Bay, as the Northlander was still a hotly contested issue, but no longer anywhere to be found. Of note, the grade crossing by the station was paved over, rendering the rails to the station as redundant.
It would be a lonely foaming trip on the Iroquois Sub, these days, lest one keeps company with the critters.
Sweet shot! Love the SW’s ditch lights!
