Caption: As I post this I am wondering how many guys caught it roaring thru Niagara. There were a few detour trains around that time, maybe half dozen overall; but this is the only one I know of powered by CSX. Three others I saw had NS up front. The detour was caused by heavy rain and resulting flooding and washouts on the upper section of the D&H below Montreal. This is actually a CN train, Montreal to Rouses Pt, often powered by NS/CP. Due to the track being out, it ran around Lake Ontario and over toward Binghamton, creating an unusual opportunity to catch something other than CN thru Niagara. Power is CSX 371 and 4715, as seen rolling past the VIA station. Out of sight behind the power the new platform was being installed, as well as some cosmetic improvements, for the start up of GO Transit to Niagara.

I do remember this, but the platform being pushed out farther happened in 2009, because the first GO trains were in 2009 here
Interesting, Docta, because the date on my photo is correct; I just double checked. And it looks as if the platform is getting an extension. Are you sure it wasn’t being extended the other way first?
Oops, you’re right. For whatever reason memory was making me think it was expanded all at the same time
