Nice C&O Emblem on the Engine Shop, Guess that answers my question of who owned the CSX Canadian District before CSX.
Matt, Built as the Erie and Huron (Erieau, Ontario to Sarnia), then to Lake Erie and Detroit River Railway, then Pere Marquette, merged into C&O – which becasme CSX.
Erieau to Blenheim abandoned in the mid 1970′s otherwise the line is intact (but partially abandoned with track still in place as of early 2017).
The interesting part about this engine house is it should date to when the Erie and Huron was first constructed. Not too many original engine shops still around that aren’t considered replacements, the only major change with this house is it was once about twice its size and reduced over the years, turntable pit is filled in under the ballast and rails on the south side somewhere.
