  2. At one time, those air dumps were filled back in the pit at Ayr. Sometimes CP would run an Ayr Turn out of London to retrieve a trainload 30 or so cars for projects west of London. I’m not sure what year they stopped hauling ballast out of the pit…but now its used for trainloads (or less) of potash.. The empties
    are rolled down toward the stop block in the pit. No ballast is left there I guess.
