Walhachin, a quaint ghost town, is indeed a scenic find for railfans along the Thompson River with its many curves, rough terrain, bridges and sparse, irrigated agricultural fields. Never visiting during the fall, I appreciate the autumn colours and the lofty, full view that includes the shiny, barn roofs in the background. These ‘blue’ barns are located on high ground right along the Trans Canada and represent the only dairy operation within miles. Land is not so conveniently farmed on both sides of the Thompson.
