I remember the feeling that 'I got there just in time' way back in 1976 when I showed up at Coaldale, which was once a very sleepy town compared to today. Being in close proximity to Lethbridge was a good enough excuse to board up and demolish this old station. (a large modern on existed in Lethbridge) The early to mid-70s was a period of a 'demo-frenzy' as both CN and CP tore down these outdated structures a lot faster than I could ever hope to photograph them.

  1. The old building is looking pretty sad. Void of its semaphores and sign. This is one area of Alberta that I have not been to. In and around Lethbridge. Thanks for posting this one.

  2. Hey 1014! Open your eyes and look to the left. Voila, there is the sign.
I was to busy looking at the building ends. Oops.

  3. I’m kinda wondering why they didn’t just use a piece of plywood instead of all those slats to close it up.
