  1. From another time although not THAT long ago – less than 50 years. Thanks for having the foresight to get these gems.

  2. The day Tillsonburg/Poert Burwell wayfreight & the night roadswitcher to Tillsonburg, switched off the engine & van upon arrival in Woodstock. Both jobs were working 12 plus hours back in the 70s. We had a Conductor on the day job that wasn’t much of a railroader, but liked to make supper in the Van while the other brakeman & I switched Livingston’s. On the way to Tillsonburg we stopped long enough for him to run up hill to IGA & get the groceries. One Monday,instead of the usual fare, one of the crew brought in fish he’d caught the day before. Our Con cooked them in the van’s oven (a little box connected to the coal heating stove). The van smelled fishy for a few days after. The night job crew weren’t happy about that….lol.
