An original Road Switcher… M L W S11 circa 1959
6616 was a frequent relief engine on these jobs and the Woodstock Roadswitchers (yard) jobs. The regular power was either 6589 or 6590. The S-11s & usual S-3s are yard engines suitable for road assignments because they have a pilot (between the footboards) and a 3 chime horn. The smaller units were eventually replaced by SW1200RSs. In the early 1970s we were handling a lot of cars on the Tillsonburg jobs & a single 660hp unit made for extra switching because it couldn’t shove a full track of cars up into Livingstons.
