  1. Did this train originate at the Welland yard?

  2. I think the train originated at St.Thomas, Ontario.

  3. Looks like Train 28 with the pigs up front.

  4. I don’t think St. Thomas ever had a TOFC yard, this might be run through.

  5. Intermodal traffic would have been lifted out of Dain City yard for the U.S.

  6. Ok makes sense

  7. I believe NS 145/146 (Kansas City-Buffalo-St.Thomas via Cayuga Sub.) handled the intermodal traffic to/from Dain City.

  8. According to the joint timetable #41 (CN/N&W) September 28 1980 Trains 90 and 28 were still listed – by 1985 all trains ran as extras as there were no trains listed in the timetable.

In 1980 Train 28 showed arrival at Fort Erie 0615 and Train 28 at 2115 and I would assume a re-crew occurred in the yard before passing over the border.

Not sure when N&W/NS re-numbered or re-symboled their trains – I was most certainly not around in this era to observe this

Nice shot – thanks for sharing Roger.
