Caption: I feel that this shot captures the essence of the very dynamic Goderich-Exeter (GEXR) railway operations since CN ceased operations of their trains on the GEXR Guelph Sub, also known as the CN North Mainline through southwestern Ontario. As an example, the power for GEXR 431/432 has varied from a rainbow of GP38s/40 of various colour schemes from previous railroads (i.e. NEC 3856), an FEC SD40-2, GEXR 3054 nee GEXR 9394 nee SP 9394 (which began life on GEXR still in full SP livery) to brand-new SD70ACes/SD70M-2s testing on the line (of particular note CSXT SD70ACEs, but also BNSF, UP, CN). And, recently, CN locomotives have been assisting on 431/432. Genessee & Wyoming colours have taken over, as evidence with this image of recently-acquired QGRY 2008 coupled to RLK 4095 (out of view).

nice, and a good summary od gexr’s last 18 years
Great shot! Hopefully GEXR will continue for some time. Rumor has it that CN may take back operations when leases expire on G&W operations.
GEXR 3054 is ex-9392, GEXR 3856 was ex-NECR 9539.
cn5248: thanks for the correction.
ngineered4u, Steve: thanks! I must say when that G&W paint is fresh, it glistens in the sun. Just in time for Halloween
