VIA train #84 has just backed out of Kitchener yard and has positioned itself along side GEXR GP38AC #3843, better know by railfans as "Barney", after loading the train will head to Toronto. In the future train #84 schedule would be extended to starting its day in London, before the start up of GO Transit rail service out of Kitchener would abolish the train completely. As for Barney it's stay on the Goderich-Exeter would end a few years later when it was transferred to sister RailAmerica shortline New England Central. Today it wears a coat of Genesse Wyoming orange. The landmark Krug furniture factory in the background is still in operation today much as it has been for close to a century.

  1. Nice. I remember Barney. Out if all the GP’s I think I saw it the most.

84 wasn’t abolished though. VIA 86 and 89 were abolished.

  2. Thanks Jacob
I must have got my numbers mixed up, I remember photographing both eastbound Via’s a number of times and thought it was this one they cut, I guess I should have checked the current schedule.
