Looking a little worse for wear but still earning their keep, Toronto Hamilton & Buffalo GP7's 75 and 72 are pictured at the TH&B's Chatham Street shops in Hamilton. The well-known coaling tower from the steam days still stands in front of the turntable and roundhouse.

TH&B's Geep fleet, after being run until failures or retirements, would be rebuilt in parent CP's GP7/9 rebuild program as yard units. TH&B 75 and 72 would be sent for rebuild in 1987 and emerge in fresh action red paint as CP 1685 and 1682 respectively.

  1. Beautiful shot!

  2. Classic TH&B! Nice one Bill!

  3. I seem to recall seeing some TH&B equipment stored near the CN Tower at some point in the 1980′s. Were these stored there? (after this picture was taken of course)

  4. Yes, they were all gathered there before rebuilding in the 80′s.

  5. Yes the ones that had some sort of failure or accident were stored there because CP shop forces hadn’t decided if they were going to be rebuilt yet as part of the rebuild program. The reason they were stored at the roundhouse was so CP shop forces wouldn’t cannibalize them for parts as the Toronto shops had already been moved to the Agincourt yard.
