The rear end of an empty grain train crosses the North Saskatchewan River on the Vegreville Sub at Fort Saskatchewan. This bridge would soon be replaced by another further down stream (Geographically NE) of here. The new bridge would allow trains to bypass the town of Fort Saskatchewan. Apart from that, I do not know how they justified the cost of a new bridge. This one looked to be in good shape.
The Vegreville Sub is part of CN's Secondary main between Edmonton and Winnipeg. Fort Saskatchewan is home to several chemical plants - one being Dow Chemical, where my wife worked. She had to zip into work for a short time so she dropped me off by the bridge Without a scanner, I had no idea whether I would see a train. I guess I was hoping for a westbound.
