Repainted (sigh) WC GP40-2 3027 cruises west on CN's Albreda Sub between Moose Lake and Redpass with a fully loaded CWR train. They would eventually run around the south connecting track between the Robson and Albreda Sub between Lubin and Spicer before reversing to Canoe River to begin dumping rail back towards Jasper.

In the photo they are on the north track and I am on the south track of the Albreda Sub. In the middle of us is the Redpass Exchange track which still serves as a backtrack to this day. Its main purpose back in the day was to interchange traffic between the Grand Truck Pacific and Canadian Northern. At the west end there is a switch governing movements to the north track and at the east end there is a switch governing movements to the south track.

  1. CN has 2 kinds of 3000 units…

  2. @Pierre..technically no. The ES44AC in the 3000 class are CN units. This unit is a WC unit despite both locomotives are owned by the same company. Thats why it has the WC sublettering on the cab. Confusing isn’t it :-)

  3. Oops..my bad, that should have said the ET44AC’s
