CN 3069 and CN 3063 power CN 435 out of Brantford on a warm July afternoon. I was amazed at how quiet the pair of new Tier 4 GE's were as they pulled by me with a fair sized train in tow. Three days later Michael Berry would catch 3069 in Montreal, neat to see how power rotates across the CN system.

  1. can I cry now? that cannot be 435… It’s supposed to have GOOD power on it! not the new AC GEVOs :(

  2. You might as well get a box of tissues…I haven’t seen a remotely decent 435 since February.

It seems all CN trains are made up of 2800, 2900 and 3000 series GE’s…shooting this was mainly for the posterity of a new Tier 4 leading, it was shiny :P

  3. I will see if i can arrange some vintage power for you boys :-) No promises though. CN is putting AC’s on everything they can these days.

  4. 435 will have the same power as any CN road freight. Just because it’s 435, doesn’t mean it’s going to have good power. Hell, 394 has had better lashups than 435. I’ve usually only shot him with GE’s. You just have keep an eye out, and you can still get good CN power :)

  5. On trains 435 and 399 on weekends are reccomended! thank you! I have yet to figure out if you have ever passed by me railfanning at Brampton GO Station

  6. @kitchener_railfan I caught 435 with CN 5379 once, and a few times with CN/IC Blue devils
