3+ hours? Makes you wonder how CN trains ever got off the (then) Dunnville Sub a few decades back when the Dundas was much busier. Probably just a case of “who care about the shortline operator, make them wait.” A good reminder that shortline roads are generally at the mercy of class 1′s.
Rumours are floating again that Metrolinx is going to expand GO service to Brantford. Not sure how valid or if or when this will happen….but it helps prove the point Mr. Odette of the Dundas Sub. being busy years ago compared to today’s standards. It will probably still be true if GO starts using the Dundas Sub. about making a short line RR wait and will further be at the mercy of Class 1′s.
I thought you said I wasnt going to be famous ! Nice shot
Just to add to the description of the event that followed that day : they were having issues with the signals. One of the cn trains that ran on the south track on the dundas approaching hardy kept on getting clear to stops when they should have been more permissive signals. The rtc was going back and forth with the signals department to see what the issue was. And on top of that 434 set off the detector at mile 15 for dragging equipment. Rtc was a patient man that night lol.
Todd, Brantford is getting GO service…but I don’t think that buses will be congesting the Dundas Subdivision!!!!
Joseph…haha! We never saw the news that it was going to be bus service. Automatically expected train service. Not to be too demanding of course! But riding the GO is much more enjoyable on the train than a bus. We always see highways….but not the rails unless you pay to ride VIA.
