Canadian manufacturing is dead? Nope - tell that to Canadian Erectors - who had a load of formed steel products to come out of their Eastchester Ave plant. Note the switchback used, a very interesting track layout for sure. Not sure why the switch back even exists, you'd think the spur could just go in direct using the right of way as shown.. The lakeshore spur was recently (3-4 years?) cut back to about this point, formerly having ran under the QEW to customers on the north side of the highway.

  1. Geee…. what do they do ????

  2. Crew: “Is this foamer just happy to see us or what”?

Its a hard line to shoot but you pulled it off, nice work Host!

  3. I’m amazed you were lucky enough to catch them around that place.

  4. Looks like I need to railfan Trillium more. Does anyone know whatever happened to that plan Trillium had to build a connecting track from the Thorold Spur to the Townline Spur? Trillium sure could use a little more business. The Lakeshore Spur used to go all the way to Niagara-On-The-Lake in the NS&T days, then was shortened to the east side of Port Wellar, before finally being cut back to Bunting in the mid 90s.

  5. Lakeshore was cut back in 2007, although service stopped up that way just before Trillium took over I’m lead to believe.

  6. just lucky boyos. that is all. thanks Ryan :) more to come.

  7. Nice catch, I remember shooting them here last summer – the PCHR is a fun day of railfanning and if you’re lucky it’s even better!

Where are they starting their shifts these days? Is it still down in Welland off Green Road South?

  8. @craigandru, Trillium is now operating out of that yard by SLM recycling south of Brown Road. Green Road is just a deadline now (TR 110, 1842), and a recent addition includes stored tankers which extend down to Feeder Yard.

  9. Daniel, re: townline spur connection heard that rumour too. think about it: who will pay for it? its at least a half mile of new right of way and easements, construction and new track and would probably cost a half million to a million to build and this assumes they use the pine st lead, plus the costs of re-adding crossing protection on the pine st lead, if its even possible to put it back.

and for how many cars a year? 800? someone has to pay… transload might be cheaper.

  10. There’s also a switchback in Hamilton at Parkdale Ave N just South of Burlington Ave E. Same thing, the spur could go right into the industry, a warehouse of some sort, without the switchback.

  11. Btw i drove by here some weeks ago seems this plant not using rail service….. spurs covered and blocked with stuff now.

  12. This place was getting cars again in 2020 or 2021 but has since closed manufacturing as per receptionist. Seems they aren’t doing too good.

  13. Last cars I saw come out of here were August or September of 2020. Seems like another victim of Covid. Interesting enough they just finished rebuilding the loading area and realigned the tracks before they stopped service.
