Under the watchful eye of 'the man in the tower', a CN Burro moves eastward approaching Rectory St in London in a scene that just isn't possible any more. I've wondered how many of these old Watchman's Towers still stand in this country. Note that the crossing gates are not yet down.

  1. This is one of your more interesting pictures posted. It is a scene that has long disappeared. I guess you caught the very end of this type of human controlled operations.
    Good work!

  2. Like the Watchman Towers, Burro cranes are no longer a fixture at either of Canada’s Class I’s. The crane in Mr. Mooney’s photo was less than 4 years old at the time.
