This westbound CN express and piggyback is led by RS-18 3107. The train is on the CP bridge at Port Hope and is about to take the interchange track to return to CN's Kingston Sub. after detouring on CP. Just to the right of the photo, CN has a derailment at the west end of their bridge which is blocking both main lines.

  1. Wouldn’t even know where to start… wow!

  2. Very cool! What is the track at ground level?

  3. The track in the foreground was the Midland Railway to Millbrook, Peterboro and Lindsay. The Grand Trunk took it over then CN. It was removed from Port Hope to Millbrook in 1958. At the time of the photo, I think CN still served a couple of customers in Port Hope from it.

  4. Okay, thanks for the info.

  5. Very nice.

  6. When I worked at Calder yard, every now and then a piggy back train would have stock cars up at the front. In all the time I have watched trains, this is the first seeing baggage cars. Thanks for posting this photo.

  7. Fantastic shot!
