As seen across Kempenfeldt Bay, an arm of Lake Simcoe, the VIA Canadian #9 heads northward past downtown Barrie. Power is VIA 6516, 6621 and 6618. The train has just left the station stop at Allandale, and for photography, everywhere is into the morning sun save for this location, as far as I knew. Times have changed. The track has been replaced with a bicycle/hiking trail, after the train service was discontinued in 1997 and the rails lifted. About center in this image stood the early Barrie station, it was unfortunately demolished back in 1962.
