CP and CN units together: always a rare event
Although they are the same model, the CP units have longer exhaust stacks.
Those were some of the good ol’ days for Oakville. There was also the CPR Ford Turn that came in the evenings to Oakville yard from Agincourt. It was a busy place back in the 80′s- earlly 90′s. The action was non-stop.
Actua;;y what was cool about working at Oakville before CN took over the whole operation was that whenever we showed up for work we took whatever power was first up on the shoptrack. It did not matter who’s power was used to switch.

Similar but better than my attempt back in the day.
Ahhh great memories!
Thanks for sharing. This is one memory I have as a kid driving by on the QEW ….. seeing the copious amounts of CN/CP switchers on the shop track.
When did CP stop switching the Ford plant?
Hey Stephen, I am not sure the exact date that CP stopped switching the plant in Oakville. I just looked up an old arbitration case and it was dated 1995. I qualified in 1988 and remember using CP power to switch, so I can olny assume the CP operations stopped in the late 90′s?
I miss those days. wish I got a few more photos. Thanks for sharing.
