Caption: What a difficult time trying to place this image for the mapping!! After much consideration, I think I am on the back parking lot of a motel that was razed for the Fallsview Casino, and the train is right where that building is now. So much has changed. Indeed, this image, save for the Skylon Tower, could have been taken in the outskirts of town. I am glad I took the time for this one. CP 5529, 5631, 5421, 5578, 5689 and 8239 are seen with a Toronto-bound train.

Look at all the empty! God knows you won’t find that anywhere in The Falls nowadays.
I keep thinking 1999 isn’t all THAT long ago but I guess it actually is.
Certainly that area of The Falls has seen drastic change in that time period. Was CP still moving those trains over the CN Oakville Sub to get them to Toronto? I think they were. It made for interesting tyrain watching in Port Credit too.
Oh, but it IS. Thats the trouble. There seems to be some psychological angle to this as well.
The 2000s surface as a “lost decade” to any of us ‘older’ sorta fellers. Y2K was 17 yrs back.
I wish I had made the effort to photograph in this area of the falls. I’m glad you did!
I can imagine going to long branch GO and a CP train with a 6 loco lash-up flies by! Does anyone know which units are still remaining on the roster? I know for sure the 5529, 5421, and 5578 are off, but what about the rest?
All 6 units off the roster. 5421 went to Progress Rail and the 5578 to Larrys Truck & Electric. Others? RIP.
More dead CP.. yay
