Caption: CN 422 heads through the outskirts of St. Catharines behind CN 2824, 2905 and BCOL 4645. The once ever so common NS autoparts cars have been largely pushed out by CN's GT blue autoparts cars as of late in Ontario, and made up the majority of them on this train. Upon passing Oakville yard the previous day, I noticed the yard was a sea of blue, which is nothing I am complaining about. CN 331, like many other days, is only about 10 minutes behind 422. In the background is the St. Catharines General Hospital, which has otherwise marred a serene view of the once rural life in these parts only a few years ago. Standing on top of a hill about a kilometer from the Grimsby Sub, I was not anticipating gale force winds to attack me on the way up, which were almost enough to lift me off the ground, and they persisted until I walked back down. Nonetheless, I did what I could to stay up there and this picture.

My dad’s always talked about shooting from this angle but never got around to it…nice shot!
Thanks! It’s really your only opportunity to shoot the morning westbound freights unless it’s raining. I’ve shot from the side road in the middle ground before. Sadly I don’t know of any other locations that this angle is possible in Niagara. That’s why I’m seriously looking into drone photography.
It really isn’t, come to think about. This would be perfect when 422 brings up new engines and you have a lash of like 10-12 engines.
Docta, yes, but only in the Winter or Spring when the field isn’t tall with growth
Also the latest CN order for new units is being built at *forth worth* and i’d expect it to be highly unlikely to see long strings of new units unlike those coming from Erie..
