The TH&B Starlite on its' way toward Hamilton was down to a crawl due to a work gang clearing; and this gave the engineer a chance to make friends with a couple of young lads that were 'wowed' by enjoying a moving train up close. The older fella I did not know either; but this scene has a bit of human side to it that is not seen very often anymore in this age of "rushing to make a dollar".. And worse, this once popular train watching spot for people of all ages is now off limits. Long shadows means it is past 7PM as TH&B 74, 402 and 75 make their way along on what looks to be a nice summers' eve.

  1. Wow… Fabulous image, Arnold!

  2. Thanks, Peter. I love this shot because it is a “people picture”. I look at scenes like this and wonder if the youngsters grew up to be train buffs and will recognize themselves in this image if they follow RP.

  3. We used to go to that spot less than a decade later. I don’t remember those shacks being there and of course by this time the Starlight was CP. Nice ride in the shot too.

  4. ha ha i know who all 4 of the humans are….

  5. W-e-l-l-l-l-l ????

  6. Ok A.W. person one…is not an “older fella” it’s the sun shining on his head…actually he had black slicked backed hair…and always stood with his belly arched out – Lindsay Scott. Lived in the LaSalle Towers.

  7. Snake: I remember a Lindsay that hung out down there a long time back but I thought he moved away around that time, maybe 1980, but drove a big silver Grand Prix or something.
