The last southbound GO train from Barrie has just left York University GO station and has reached the track speed of 75mph in no time thanks to a downhill grade. The former CFB Downsview base stands in the background, which is now owned by Bombardier for testing. A morning snow storm is just tapering off, however visibility is still relatively poor. Despite how easily GO tends to be affected by inclement weather, this train is making good time.

    Actually, Bombardier occupies the hangars south of here. These ones, around the east side of Carl Hall Rd., are used for various commercial and recreational businesses (sports, rock climbing).

    Poor choice of wording, my bad. I was trying to address the open space (the north end of the airfield), which is not very visible. The airfield is owned by Bombardier? I also noticed the siding into the Bombardier plant south of here. Seems it’s rarely ever used.

    Yup, Bombardier owns the airport now. They occasionally get a rail shipment in from CN.
