Caption: The WHRC started up on the 27th of August, 1994 generally in order to provide a method of transportation for the product of two local gypsum mines. The roster at start up consisted of a dozen old RS-23s, discards from the CP. In this photo two of them, 8042 and 8037(and two in behind), and 8041 with several others can be seen alongside the enginehouse on the extreme right of the photo. Only one unit I know of was painted into a WHRC paint, a plain dark burgundy with the company name on the flanks. This unit, 8046, was used for a tourist train. The RS-23s outlived their usefulness and were all scrapped in 2006. The gypsum mines closed in 2011.
