Perhaps the closest to an original Geep on CN today: CN 7046 – CN 4116.

Both were GP9's with 567 engines, and are now model GP9RM with 16-645 engines.

CN 7046 was rebuilt 1992 by Atelier ( Montreal) from 4282 ( GMD 1959 )

CN 4116 was rebuilt 1984 by CN Point St. Charles shop from CN 4131 ( GMD 1957)

CN 7046 – CN 4116 ( CN 546?) prior to pushing 11 loads from Gerdau Ameristeel.

Mile 304 Kingston Subdivision, Hopkins Street overpass, Whitby, Ontario, December 9, 2015 image by S.Danko.

The Geep:

What's interesting:

Note the Marker Lights on both 7046 and 4116

In the background: Construction of the new GO service facilities.

  1. Nice shot. Its not 546 though as they work at 2100. Its probably an extra or the Oshawa yard job. Did you notice if the unit was in remote mode?

  2. Good Question. The right hand seat in 7046 was occupied. Two crew members on the ground.

  3. Awww, it might have been an extra. If there was someone in the enginemans seat and two on the ground, thats a full crew. Only 2 on the ground is normally a belt pack controlled movement.

  4. Oh Lockwood…………….

  5. @Stephen..Lockwood?

  6. Just wait. I’m fishing. For lockwoods. Patience. It will come out of its brooding grounds soon. This photo is the bait of a lockwood.
