A nice clean looking newly painted VIA 6762 with the Montreal-bound portion of the "Canadian" is seen here eastbound over the Sturgeon River bridge. The 6762 was retired by 1989, and I understand it is currently out of service on the Grand Canyon Railway in Arizona.

  1. Awesome shot. Was the wood area on the bridge just to the right of the train for MoW workers or the general public?

  2. I don’t remember the usage of the land over on the other side of the bridge, but there is visible the track that went to the Wood Chip plant just across Hwy 17 at Hwy 64. It was served by CP during this time frame. There was also a parking area and a Tourist Welcome center along Hwy 17. Not sure how far back the property line was though.
