Coated with oil and dirt, doing it's best to look like an NS unit, CP 8542 leads NS 2679 as their fight with gravity to hold train 143 back is almost over.  Once the train is off the grade, they will snake through Hamilton before climbing back up the escarpment to Vinemount and onwards to the CSX in Buffalo for forwarding to Chicago.

  1. I shot this same train at MM73 on its way down. One of the dirtiest leaders in a very long time and that’s not saying much.
