The Last Orangedale whistle With a track inspection expirey date looming two days later the CBCNS decided to move their power off the Sydney subdivision on the 14th. We chased the train from Iona, NS to Orangedale, setting of the Rankin Family song, 'Orangedale Whistle'. The train had many followers and passers by stopping and taking a look at the last train they will see on this strech of line. While stopped at one location I heard a local say to her kids "Look at that and remeber it, because you'll never see it again".

  1. Nice work – always a treat to have shot the ‘last train’ to anywhere, and you did a great job with this photo.

  2. Great shot Drew. It’s unfortunate such a beautiful line was abandoned.

  3. Thanks. It was almost pure luck that they moved the power the same day as my family and I were heading up to cape breton. It is truely a stunning line, mainly when it’s skirting along the Bra D’or lake and across peoples front lawns, sad that’s it’s going to be ripped up now.

  4. It’s not 100% getting ripped up yet, but for sure G&W is done with that end of the Sydney Sub.
