Good Morning - while commuters commute to work (including yours truly) for the 9 to 5 grind, it's 8:50 and GEXR 432 does its daily commute to Toronto, the crew already three hours into their day. 3394 really does look great with 3393, hats off to GW/GEXR management for arranging the paint and making my job easy - clicking a shutter is so difficult when it looks this good.
I call this location "Tatham Curve" - railfan Paul Tatham once lived in the property behind the engines, and if only one could have put up a classic tall neon sign in the background "Trains, the sensible choice" in some classic 1940's nod to the glory days of passenger rail, we'd have a really cool shot here, but I don't think the current owners would be so willing to put up signage :)

  1. Hey Shephon great shot is there not an old switch stand at his old house still by the road. On Jones Base line.

  2. I didn’t see it when I drove by.

  3. The switch stands went to OSR. There might be a couple of lengths of old rail (came out of the old bridge when it was replaced in ’92). And thanks for the mention Steve! I’m actually coming for a visit in October and will certainly be dropping by the old house to see what the new owners have done with it – and to get a shot of 432 in its new duds! BTW have they started on the roundabout yet? Paul in Canmore

  4. Very cool shot Steve. I’ve got to try this some time. Note the differences between the two SD40-2′s:

The 3394 has GEXR reporting marks under the cab, like RLHH units, but the 3393 does not.

The 3393 still has large number boards on the rear of the unit, and the 3394 does not.

  5. Paul, glad you noticed. The roundabout project has not begun, didn’t notice any construction while driving by.
