Even harder to catch freights down there now, like virtually impossible. But not totally impossible as every once in a while a 570 will venture down there… I know of two times in 2015 thus far. And it’s still auto traffic taking a shortcut across Toronto.
In this image, those cars could be out of GM in Oshawa or headed to the GM van plant in Scarborough (closed in early 90′s). Unlikely headed to Ford in Oakville given the quad door cubes were supposed to be GM only. Those tri-levels are likely Oakville bound, though.
BTW, this was not taken at the Scarborough Golf Club Road, as the westbound view there would not include those apartments, being to the east of them. The apt’s are along Markham Road. This shot was taken close to the Eglinton Avenue East overpass along Porchester Drive, and for a lifelong Scarberian, is priceless.
The wide open views along here are compliments the still-born Scarborough Expressway, and you’d have been standing in the middle of the westbound lanes had it been built.
Thanks for the comments Mike. I agree that the apartments are along Markham Road. However this is a morning shot of an eastbound (I should have specified that). I don’t think I’ve ever been along Porchester drive. I had to look it up to see where it is.
Ooops, my bad. If a morning eastbound, then that’s definitely Oshawa bound.
