1057 developed a running gear problem on an excursion to Havelock. Repairs were made and the excursion was short turned on the wye at Dranoel. Prior to returning a runpast was done on this S curve. We were waiting in Peterborough for the train and drove out when we heard of the problem. This photo was likely taken by my mother. I'm standing to the right of my dad in the plaid jacket

  1. Mother the Ace photographer!! This is a very nice image.

  2. Terrific shot. And rather than chase, I rode that excursion ! Really neat eastbound climbing the hill on the Belleville Sub. from Leaside through Don Mills into Agincourt. Absolutely fantastic vistas of Lake Ontario from the Havelock Sub. east of Claremont. And look at that roadbed and rail! First class ( you don’t want to look today). I believe this was the only Ontario Rail attempt to reach Peterborough, short turning at Dranoel – the junction with Bobcaygeon Sub to Lindsay. sdfourty.

  3. 1057 did Make it to Havelock on another trip. 136 did a charter for filming a Dofasco choir Christmas as well. See photo id 14711. I don’t know where 136 was turned.

  4. Steam on the Havelock! It might make a good line for excursions to run today…except for the slow speed.

  5. Wonderful shot, Eric!
