On a perfectly overcast day, GP-9 #403 rests at the Chatham Street roundhouse.  Here are some locomotive details...


- Built by the General Motors Diesel Division (London, Ontario) in March, 1954.


- Equipped with steam boilers for passenger operations


- Constructed to operate long-hood forward

	
- Equipped with Automatic Train Control to permit operation in the lead position on New York Central lines east of Welland, Ontario


- Rebuilt as CP Rail GP-9u, #1689 at Angus Shop, Montreal, in February 1988

  1. I miss the ol’ TH&B a lot more than I thought I would. Once known as the “To Hell & Back” or the “Thump, Hump & Bump”.

  2. Those were the first three GMD built GP9′s too.
