Caption: The debut of the Credit Valley Explorer. A keyboardist is setup beside the former CP bunkhouse/ restaurant at the old station site playing music for the limited crowd who will board the one coach train and travel down the former Owen Sound Sub to Snelgrove and return. The boarded up eye sore wouldn't be my first choice for a boarding location for a tour train through the Hills of Headwaters, however less than a year after this image was taken, on March 16, 2006 the old historic building burnt to the ground. In it's ashes a new station arose, similar in design (albeit a smaller version) to the station which sat on the site before being moved a couple blocks over. A decade after taking this image, the Credit Valley Explorer still plies the rails between Orangeville and Snelgrove showing patrons the beauty of a little oasis a little northwest of Toronto. The train has grown to 3 cars and the old "Pride of Orangeville" has been replaced with a rebuilt GP9RM.

The first Credit Valley Explorer trains ran around September 2004 though and did dozens of runs that fall. You aure this is the debut Dave? I’m trying to figure out when the first train ran – all I know is I was not there to photograph it.
Hmmmm…. perhaps it was the first of the 2005 season? Anyone care to shed some light and set the record straight?
