VIA's 'Prince Albert Park' brings up the markers on #68 at Whitby, Ontario. The domes show up infrequently on these trains, not in service and presumably heading east for work. I have caught one on an all Budd consist, but a Park series (facing the right way of course) would make for a neat looking pocket streamliner. 1732hrs.

  1. Well that’s just wrong. ;)

  2. That looks awkward!

  3. From the black striping above the window line, this is one of the Park cars that were being rebuilt in the US by Avalon Rail for VIA’s new Prestige class on the Canadian. I believe the rebuild work was being completed by CLN Industries in Levis, QC. Not sure if that would explain this move. I know some of these rebuilt cars are already in service. The new Prestige class on the Canadian is set to debut this summer. Apparently the rooms feature a big screen TV in addition to double beds. Not sure why you’d want to stare at a TV screen instead of the splendor of the Rockies after paying the premium fare! Speaking of the Canadian – Good news! VIA has announced that passenger rail service will resume from Toronto to Winnipeg and points west to Vancouver as of April 11, 2015:

  4. I thought the dark stripe was odd… and classier than VIA blue. Thanks Pete.
