Caption: RLK 5006, 1401 and 3586 lead an Ottawa Valley Railway train through Rutherglen, ON, approaching the Trunk Road railway crossing. We were on the way to Mattawa to photograph the short-lived Timber Train and happened upon this train. 1401 was fresh from rebuild by the ONR at their North Bay shops and breaking in on the Ottawa Valley. 1401 and sister 1400 would soon be shipped off to Alberta, then return to Ontario a few years later to the Goderich-Exeter, and now they reside on the Ontario Southland Railway.

Oh my. Excellent.
Now THAT shot is some kinda treasure, ol’ Smith Lad !!!!
Nice shot, never saw any action shots of 1401 or 5006 on the OVR before
The EMD design team would be rolling in their graves if they saw their streamlined passenger F-unit design in lowly freight service between two ‘hoods, all in mismatching schemes
