Now thats about a big a gathering of exuberant foamers as I have ever seen. Really nice photo.Thanks for posting this great piece of history. B/W enhances it, too.
Thanks, Mr. Mooney, for your comments. It is funny, but I never really considered that there was “history” in this image. It seems like just a few years ago that we were chasing 6060 like she was a rock star. Then again, the youngest ankle-biter on that rainy station platform is now 40. Yikes, where did the time go??
Or worse, Peter, the average train photographer in that scene is now a senior citizen. Passage of time is frightening for some of us……..like me. I don’t count the days past; I think I how few are left. As far as postings, well, keep up the good work. )

Who would believe that the FA would today, be worthy of a fan trip of its own? CNR did a great thing by investing in the restoration of 6060, as did CPR in restoring 2816. It’s funny how management forgets what railroading means to the public, but the public turns out in hundreds to experience “railroading”!
If it doesn’t make money, management doesn’t seem to care about anything any more. Again, this was a great “sign of the times” photo.
Thank you for posting this Peter, great “historical “ picture ! The “big gathering of exuberant framers” as described by Mr. Mooney are mostly NRHS National Convention attendees, many hundreds of them NRHS Members from the USA. And I believe this was the last 6060 steam excursion in Ontario before she was gifted to the Province of Alberta. The FA was along to ensure 6060 doesn’t fail/and to give a helping hand from time to time, like climbing out of the Don Valley and up to Richmond Hill on CN’s Bala Sub on the northbound part of this trip. Thanks for the memory. John
