Late this morning, I heard over the scanner that CN 421 has not arrived at Port Robinson yard. That was odd considering 421 is an early morning freight that runs between 7:30-8:30 usually. Sure enough, the green signal shown as I got to Merritton, and the headlight was already in the distance. But it took a long time for it to get to Merriton. It came to a stop at Glenridge. I then heard over the scanner that they were having problems with the airbreaks, and they couldn't finish the journey. Just when I was ready to leave, they said they'd pull up to Merriton, because it was easier to get a taxi there. It would stop right infront of where I was, which was perfect for shots. It later got fixed, and off to Pt.Robinson it went.

  1. This train arrived at Port Robinson around 1440. Just caught the tail end as it was crossing Hwy 20 in Niagara. Wondered why it was so late.

  2. Took about 25 minutes for it to get from the station to Merriton…421 wasn’t having a good day.

  3. Apparently another train broke down today, this time in the falls. I believe it was 421 or 422.

  4. Got an e-mail from an old girlfriend who works at a doc’s office in mid-Niagara Falls and she jokingly said she wondered where I was as it was brilliant blue sky, a dead train, and vehicle traffic in an absolute schmozzle as numerous major arteries were fouled. Good ol’ CN made no friends today!!

  5. The mayor of NF wants the trains gone! They’ve already wiped out CP, let’s hope CN stays.
