As a new contributor to Railpictures.ca, it has been interesting to read the comments posted by others about my images. Every now and again, I've been treated to a personal note from someone who has connected with a photograph. It is amazing how these pictures can have meaning or bring back memories.

One of the most fascinating notes came from Mary W., in Pembroke, Ontario. She recognized the foundation of her childhood home in the forefront of one of Del Rosamond's photographs...

Dave Tinslay recently wrote and relayed his hilarious story about riding on the Turbo. I'll include that with another upcoming Turbo picture I plan to post. In the meantime, he has allowed me to share with you a great story about Budd cars...

"Back in 1956 when I was 4 years old my Dad was stationed on the HMCS Buckingham which was tied up in Digby, Nova Scotia – Naturally there was a track going through town with a daily Dayliner(Budd Car)from Halifax to Yarmouth with a speed restriction of 5 miles per hour – Now according to my Mother(cause I do not remember this)one morning I was playing outside and she heard the train horn blowing continuously – She looked outside and I was nowhere to be seen – She put 2 and 2 together and figured out I probably had something to do with it – She took off running and there I was standing between the rails waving to beat the band – It appears in her own words that she tanned my butt – got a harness and tied me to the house.

Finally in 1972 she untied me and sent me off to Montreal and told me to stay the heck off the tracks!

Some years later I took the CP Rail Atlantic to St. John, New Brunswick crossed the Bay of Fundy on the Princess of Acadia to Digby and then took the Dayliner to Halifax to visit my parents – Usually I would take the Ocean or the Scotian on CN but when I told my Mother about the trip on the Dayliner she told me the story of when I was 4 years old... Good times!"
